home at last!
well
I didn’t expect it but the day ended quite emotionally. not to say that I am not emotionally tied to Koln. I most certainly am. I just thought I would be able to keep it together a little more. I got teary eyed when we hugged D and J and we saying goodbyes and outright cried after they were gone gone. it was really hard to say goodbye to such wonderful people. I really will miss seeing...
I’m gonna hug you.

– E, about me
a nice night for a walk in the rain
some items to keep in mind, as a preface:
when D drove us to the new flat this morning there were a number of blocked roads and detours and, well, we got fairly turned around and were no longer sure where the new apartment was. or even what direction it was in for that matter.
it rained all day today and the sky was still leaking sufficiently when we left work.
I no longer have a bike and...
we had quite a tour today!

goodbye flat, hello phone
tomorrow E and I are moving out of our flat and into J’s sister’s flat until Saturday morning.
as a result, even though it is only Tuesday, it feels like we are leaving tomorrow. I cleaned all my clothes, and am fervently praying that they dry by morning, scrubbed down the bathroom, emptied out the fridge and mopped the floor in my bedroom. I made piles for what I would definitely...
Hannah at work, as a rehabilitator
me: this is ok.
D: what is?
me: we can listen to this song for just a minute right?
D: yeah. if you need it, yeah ok.
as of late
I have been noticing an increase in the number of times per day that I get this question:
“you have been living in Germany for three months and you don’t speak any German?”
ahem. excuse me. I know some German. I can say hello and goodbye and excuse me and thank you and “can I please have a baguette?” quite well. E and I just learned how to say “I...

new bathing suit
I woke up late and the weather was still not very good. it was only 68 degrees and I could feel a significant feeling breeze when I stuck my arm out the window. but I had kept telling myself all weekend that I was going to go swimming so I was in a connundrum.
I put my new suit on and pranced around the flat in it for a bit trying to decide whether I wanted to pay to ride the tram out to the...
all I need is a piano in my track now!!!
I am so glad the 80’s are back.
Köln day trip
I have done so much traveling to other cities these past few weekends that I practically forgot that I am living in Koln. I did some research on fun free things to do in Koln as a tourist since this is my last weekend in Germany.
things I found from my research:
Cologne Cathedral
Rhine Promenade and Deutzer Bridge = crossing the river and taking the typical Koln photograph
Cologne City Hall
...
everyday! of our lives!
me = caught singing and dancing along to this HSM classic on my ipod while walking along the river. I’m looking at you G. can’t wait for our next duet and the album recording.
I'm going swimming this weekend
and I am not going to let a rainy weather forecast stop me. D showed me how to take the tram to a giant swimming pool in town and I am determined to go there and have some fun. it has a water slide and a high dive and I am so excited! the photographs online show it with about a billion people in it. and I am going to be one of them.
they aren't terrorists
you know, those people in airports that everyone is afraid to put their bags near because you see them wandering around the airport looking around a lot as if maybe someone is watching their every move and seeming suspicious. or they are wearing clothes that are a little bit funny to you or they can’t speak the language well.
that was me at the Cologne-Bonn airport. from the minute I...

rollerskating in the Netherlands
I went into this neat rollerskating shop in Rotterdam. I was so excited. it was more of a skate shop really with longboards and skateboards and rollerblades and stuff but they did have a special section just for quads. it was thrilling.
I always do some research about the cities I am going to beforehand to see if they have a rollerskating rink that I can skate at. I couldn’t find anything...

overall
in the end I really enjoyed Rotterdam and eventually the sun actually came out and I saw some blue sky. the people crawled out of their houses and it became quite lively. I was bopping along to some music on my ipod and dancing a little and some people walking by me gave me that head nod. it was a moment.
