wowzer
everywhere I turned in Rotterdam I saw things that amazed me. the city was mostly destroyed during the second world war so it has been rebuilt with a lot of modern architecture. this was the reason that I decided to stop there on my way back from Amsterdam.

I grew up a lot
things I did to make my parents proud:
I ate a slice of pizza and all the cheese on top of it. I learned the value of money. I was not about to spend 3.4e on a slice of pizza and scrape all the cheese off of it. let’s get real.
I was so cold that I forfeited looking cute and wrapped my scarf around my head. this worked out for me because I actually looked darling.

I was overanticipatory
Sunday morning I woke up early and got on a tram to the Centraal Station. I was nervous about making the train to Rotterdam on time and finding the right gate and everything so I left too early. I also arrived early enough to make an earlier train.

gorgeous end of my trip in Amsterdam
I really wanted to go and sit in Vondelpark (a huge park with rave reviews about seeing locals having fun). this is supposedly also the place to go if you are going to get stoned or eat some magic mushrooms. I did see some less than totally innocent things going on there but no one, to my eye, was totally tripping out or anything like that. I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed.

I had to take my bike back early on Saturday night (so that I could just get charged for two days instead of three) and I walked back to my hostel through the more traditional and historic part of town.
